WHY YOU NEED A Professional Resume A resume is your introduction to a potential employer. You and your resume are competing with hundreds of other applicants - - all for the same job. That's why you need a resume that works. Think of your resume as a personal fact sheet, designed to tell who you are, your goals, your qualifications, and, most importantly, what you have to offer an employer. Take a few minutes to consider how you want to present yourself in your personal resume. Remember, it may well be the most important project you'll complete during your college career. SIZE AND LAYOUT Your resume must be well arranged and easy to read. A number of typesetting treatments can be used to accomplish this. See the sample resume on the back page. Standard page size for a resume is 8 x 11, printed on a quality grade of paper. You can add distinction by using color paper. Depending on the position you are applying for, a color ink may be used. However, the general rule is black ink only. Remember, the average resume must make its impression in 30 seconds.
