The playoffs start next week, so there are still many games to be played before the champions are crowned. During last week's action, eight teams were knocked from the rankings, so there will be some new faces ranked this week. There were a lot of good games played this week, and here are the summaries of just a few of them.' .................................... .... BAMF 42, The Diners 0: Quarter- back Dave Collins threw three touch- down passes and ran for another in BAMF's trouncing of The Diners on Sunday. BAMF's first of six touch- downs came in the first half on a 40- yard bomb to John Bonnell. Scott Payton and Dave Cook also caught Collins passes for touchdowns and Payton scored an interception, as did teammate Tom Phelps. Captain Ross Arseneau said the key to his team's success is, "our quickness on both of- fense and defense. We can beat anyone with our speed." This speed and quickness helped BAMF move into the number five spot in this week's rankings. Evans Scholars 14, Acacia 0: If the halfs were 10 seconds shorter, Acacia would have tied the Evans Scholars 0-0. The "Caddies" scored on the last play of the half and the last play of the game. I IM Roundup A r' Ed McCormik picked off an errant pass and rambled 45 yards for a touchdown on the last play of the first half, and reciever Bryan T. Woodward scored on a 20-yard pass from quarterback Mark Baker to end the game. Defense was the key to the Evans Scholar victory as Acacia only got past midfield once. As captain Mike Gregg put it, "we had very good pass coverage and we kept constant pressure on the quarterback. We are looking forward to the playof- fs." ..... ..... .. ...... ............ ........ . Bursley Elitist 26, Elliott Bombers 0: The Bursley Elitist scored 12 points before they even had a first down. Chris Bookout ran back the opening kickoff, and then on Bursley's first play from scrimmage, Bookout scored on a 60-yard passing play. For good measure Bookout threw touchdown passes to Dan Cafferti and John Swier- czewski in the second half. The defen- sive rush for Bursley was awesome. Linemen Mark Madias, Dave Sheasley, and Steve Faris accounted for seven sacks. This victory moves Bursley Elitist in- to the number two spot in this week's rankings. ....................................... Wonkas 30, Restatement 2D 6: Wonka captain Tim Ryan dominated play in last Sunday night's game again- st Restatement. He had a hand in all four Wonkas touchdowns as he threw for three and ran for another. Recipients of Ryan's touchdown passes were Bill Farrell, Craig Corman, and Dan Scaack. Ryan said the defense also played well and attributed it to "the good pass rush, and also we got ahead early and we could go to a prevent- defense early." TKO 32, Hunt House 0: TKO remained unscored upon and unbeaten as they overwhelmed Hunt House, and retained their number one ranking. TKO is made up of members of the woman's softball team. In the first half quarterback Mary Bitkowski threw a touchdown pass to Carol Patrick and also ran for one. In the second half Patrick caught her second touchdown pass, and teammate Jody Humphies also scored. TKO looks like the team to beat in the women's division. Cosmics 3, Romaniacs 0: Cosmics' goalie Matt Mattson recorded his second shutout of the season in the Cosmics' victory over the Romaniacs. Bob Orlowski had two goals to lead the Cosmics' attack. Frank Pinkelman also scored for the Cosmics. The vic- tory brings their record to 21 which qualifies them for the A playoffs. 4 4 14 FSAM-ZB Tsq uare -off II Emotions will reach a fever pitch on Saturday morning when Sigma Alpha Mu and Zeta Beta Tau fraternities square off in their annual football con- frontation.
