Lakers trounce Bladers The Intramural football and soccer seasons have entered the third week, and the competition is getting much fiercer as the teams begin to look toward the upcoming playoffs. The many upsets this week have caused the rankings to change quicker than the leaves on the trees, with many top teams falling out altogether... Keeping that in mind, we turn to summaries of some of the top games of the week and a look at the revamped standings. Ind(ICen(ent Lakers 28, Bladers 0: Big plays enabled the Lakers to take a 28-0 win from the Bladers Tuesday. A punt and an interception were both returned for touchdowns, and Tom Freese threw two touchdown passes. Todd Keiser leads the Lakers with three touchdown runs in two games. Fraternit v Sigma Alpha Mu 62, Phi Kappa Tau 0: Tom Stotter threw an amazing seven touchdown passes as Sigma Alpha Mu destroyed Phi Kappa Tau, 62-0. Joe Kaplan had two interceptions for the formidable Sammy defense, which. gave up only one first down. The Sammies scored 40 points in the first half alone and waltzed to one of the biggest margins of victory in recent IM history. The Sammies take over the number one spot in the rankings. IM-Roundup GraI/FacuIltv/St f'/ Law Dogs over Phi Rho Lithopedians (Law Dogs win on first downs): "Defense was the key to this game," according to Law Dogs' captain John Witri, and the Law Dogs' defense prevailed over the third-ranked Phi Rho Lithopedians. Anchoring the front line of the Dogs are Clay Ottoni and Jim stomped all over 'em," screamed Janet Williamson after Thronson rolled over Zeta Tau Alpha 36-0. Elizabeth Poll scored twice as "awesome" quarter- back Debbie Peterson marched her team up and down the field. Coach Jeff Dubsman and friends are the brains behind this powerhouse, which Janet predicts will be "the champions of the campus." What is the real secret of the Thronson success? "Everybody spaz- zes out," laughs Williamson. Well, it works for Thronson, who enters the rankings at number two. Parsons. The defensive secondary was the Law Dogs' strong point Monday night, as law students Peter Levine, Kurt Yost and Jim Lefkowitz allowed no passes to reach the end zone. 1ol Ci Thronson 36, Zeta Tau Alpha 0: "We _ Residence Hall Bursley Crush 28, Julius and the Caesars 0: The Bursley Crush powered their way into the second spot in the rankings with a 28-0 win over Julius and the Caesars. Rob Jackson, Dave McRae and Ralph Williams all scored for the Crush, and the defense only allowed the Caesars to cross midfield . once. What's next for the Crush? "Well, we're looking toward the playoffs," stated Neil Ingram. Hustle keys Root Boys'win * *Dally Football Rankings** Women's Kelsey Root Boys 4, IPP's 0: While most consider fall the season for foot- ball, others are busy kicking a soccer ball. One such soccer player is Glen Gordon, who scored two goals in his team's winning effort on Tuesday. Ben- ji Bornsjein and Scott Masti each kicked in one for the Root Boys, and goalie Alex Cigale notched a shutout.
