From AP and UPI
MANILA, Philippines - Several thousand women -
led by the wife of the slain Benigno Aquino - called for
President Ferdinand Marcos' resignation yesterday in the
biggest anti-government march yet in the main business
district.
The latest protest came as the government announced
that Marcos has nearly completed a final draft of a
proposed presidential decree organizing a new fact-
finding commission'into the Aug. 21 murder of opposition
leader Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino.
AN EARLIER five man panel appointed by Marcos
resigned Monday because its impartiality had been
challenged.
The palace said the new commission would be com-
posed of no more than seven people. Its goal would be "to
clear up, once and for all, any suspicion of whitewash,"
the announcement said.
"It's time that Mr. Marcos listen to the country" and

Estrada-Kalaw told the crowd. "Once we get the military
support, and that time will come, then Marcos you will be
alone."
AN ESTIMATED 20,000 women, many chanting
"Ninoy, Ninoy," the nickname of the assassinated op-
position leader, packed the streets to cheer the women
marchers who sang religious and patriotic songs.
Dressed in white and carrying yellow flowers and can-
dles the women joined the mile-long, three-hour
procession through the center of Makati as tens of
thousands of men liing the route cheered.
The march was the first all-women demonstration held
in Makati, scene of almost daily anti-Marcos protests in
recent weeks. The marchers included wives and
daughters of opposition leaders, students, nuns, office
employees, teachers and aging society matrons accom-
panied by their maids.
