Either way, he's back and he's Bond. (Ann Arbor Theater, 210 St. Fifth; 7619701). RETURN OF THE JEDI George Lucas clues us in on those troubling questions raised in the two prior Star Wars hits. The word "deli" (or as the more elite establishments tend to say, "delicatessen"), brings to mind the association of similar words such as "delicacy," "delicious," and "delectable." This similarity reaches far deeper than mere nomeclature and provides ac- curate adjectives for deli cuisine. Unrivalled as suppliers of sandwiches, soups and salads, delis support their right to patronage with quality and quantity. Renowned for fresh ingredients and filling portions, delis offer the best of eat-in and take-out treats. Diners add to the daily menu social atmosphere and exten- ded hours. Serving as both food and social arenas, patrons frequent diners for a wide scope of food, drink and conver- sation. Optimum places for late-night-enders and early- morning-starters, the popularity of diners is well- deserved. Delis and diners for every desire are guaranteed to provide qualitative and quan- titative fulfillment. -Julie Winokur JAMES BOND MARATHON It's a James Bond fest this weekend, courtesy of Mediatrics. The bargains include a $3 admission price for one day, or $5 for both Friday and Saturday. From this point on, any films being shown as a part of the Bond-a-thon will be labeled 'Bond Marathon' along with the time.,(Mediatrics; Michigan Theater) MY DINNER WITH ANDRE (Louis Malle, 1981) Just what the title says it is, as Wallace Shawn eats dinner with Andre Gregory and, the two do nothing but talk about just about everythink for 110 minutes. A short, "Nothing but Nerves," will also be shown. (Ann Arbor Film Coop; Aud. A, 7:00,9:15) MAD MAX (George Miller, 1979) Mel Gibson stars as an Australian policeman of the future who goes looking for revenge following the brutal death of his family. The predecesor of The Road Warrior. (Cinema Guild; Lorch Hall, 7:00, 8:45,10:30) DR. NO (Terence Young, 1962) The very first James Bond film. Sean Connery heads out to the Bahamas to stop jamming of spaceship communications and runs into villanious Dr. No and the voluptuous Ursula Andress. Enter- taining. (Bond Marathon; Michigan Theater, 1:30) FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE (Terence Young, 1963) Cannery has to spirit a secret away from the Russians. Daniela Bianchi is the Rusian spy who lures him into the trap in a Bond with a lot of memorable moments. (Bond Marathon; Michigan Theater, 3:35) GOLDFINGER (Guy Hamilton, 1964) Goldfinger, who likes to kill people by painting them all in gold, wants to steal all the gold in Fort Knox. Sean Connery's Bond has to stop him. Honor Blackman is Pussy Galore in a typical Bond enter- tainment. Odd job, too. (Bond Marathon; Michigan Theater, 5:35) - THUNDERBALL (Terence Young, 1965) SPECTRE is at it again. They're stealing planes with nuclear bombs and hiding them underwater, making it difficult for Connery's Bond to find. Dif- ficult for the audience, too because the underwater scenes are slow and dull. (Bond Marathon; Michigan Theater, 7:50) YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE (Lewis Gilbert, 1967) Roald Dahl scripted the very best Bond of all as Sean Connery heads to Japan to fight SPECTRE and Bloefeld. ,The villains are hijacking spacecraft and trying to cause World War. (Bond Marathon; Michigan Theater, 10:00) THE SECRET OF NIMH (Bon Bluth, 1982) The animation in the film is some of the best around, and it chronicles the story of Mrs. Brisby's search for a cure for her sick son, leading her to the rats of NIMH. A Bluth short, "Banjo, the Woodpile Cat," will also be shown. (Alternative Action; MLB 4,7:00,9:00)' ALIEN (Ridley Scott, 1979) Horror from the director of Blade Runner. The spaceship Nostromo is under attack from a foreign monster. Sigourney Weaver makes her film debut in this one. (Cinema 2; MLB 3,7:00,9:15) M*A*S*H (Robert Altman, 1970) One of Altman's best works is a short on actual plot, but it is an amusing look at the Korean War. The Elliott Gould/Donald Sutherland vehicle also has a serious side. (Hill Street Cinema; 1429 Hill St., 8:30, 10:30) 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY (Stanley Kubrick, 1968) Like almost all Kubrick films, this science fiction epic is a brilliant work that will look even better tonight with a new print and stereo sound. (Cinema Guild; Aud. A, 7:00,9:30) AMERICAN GIGOLO (Paul Schrader, 1980) Richard Gere is an "escort" for ladies in the Hollywood area. A small problem crops up - one of them is murdered, and Gere is suspect number one. (Cinema 2; MLB 3,7:00, 9:15) REPULSION (Roman Polanski, 1965) Catherine Deneuve is a secluded and suppressed young woman who develops both a fascination and a revulsion toward men. (Alternative Action; MLB 4, 7:00) TESS (Roman Polanski, 1980) Nastassia Kinski is the title character in a highly acclaimed movie based on Thomas Hardy's novel Tess of the d'Aubervilles. (Alternative Action; MLB 4, 9:00) QUADROPHENIA (Franc Roddam, 1979) The soundtrack features the music of Pete Town- send and the Who as teenagers who battle just about everybody in the name of rock 'n' roll in England's Mods-and-Rockers era. (Ann Arbor Film Coop; Lor- ch Halol, 7:00,9:15) ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE (Peter Hunt, 1969) An unusual Bond movie with George Lazenby as the top-notch spy, Telly Savalas as a villain, aud Diana Rigg as Bond's wife. The skiing sequences are tremendous. (Bond Marathon; Michigan Theater, 9:00) DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER (Guy Hamilton, 1971) Who could think of a connection between space- based blackmail and South African diamond rob- beries? Sean Connery can in his suitably enter- taining "final" Bond movie. (Bond Marathon, Michigan Theater 11:30) LIVE & LET DIE (Guy Hamilton, 1973) From the title song by Paul McCartney and Wings to the plot involving voodoo and drugs, this is the weirdest Bond movie of all. Might not please everyone. Roger Moore's debut. (Bond Marathon; Michigan Theater, 1:40) THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN (Guy Hamilton, 1974) Christopher Lee is the villain who has some solar- powered schemes and a delightful fun house ad- jacent to the living room. Roger Moore is James Bond. (Bond Marathon; 3:50) THE SPY WHO LOVED ME (Lewis Gilbert, 1977) Richard Keil is the biting Jaws. He works for Kurt Jurgens' Karl Stromberg who likes to hijack nuclear subs. A grand, gadget-filled Bond with Roger Moore. (Bond Marathon, Michigan Theater 6:05) MOONRAKER (Lewis Gilbert, 1979) Jaws is after James Bond again. This time Jaws works for Drax, who wants to set up a colony in space and destroy the world. The outer-space climax is very good. (Bond Marathon; Michigan Theater, 8:15) FOR YOUR EYES ONLY (John Glen, 1981) Lower-notch Bond with a lot of action scenes that seemed to come from one of the earlier movies and an all too subdued plot. Great title song, at least. (Bond Marathon, Michigan Theater, 10:35) ...................... ....................... CAPTAIN BLOOD (Michael Curtiz, 1935) Errol Flynn plays a surgeon who decides to become a pirate after he is incorrectly sent to prison. Basil Rathbone and Olivia de Havilland also star. (Cinema Guild; Larch Hall, 9:05) PSYCHO (Alfred Hitchcock, 1960) Janet Leigh and Anthony Perkins star in Hitch- cock's classic horror film that has you laughing and screaming at the antics in the Bates Motel. (Hill Street Cinema; 1429 Hill, 7:00, 9:00) MADAME BOVARY (Vincente Minnelli, 1949) Jennifer Jones has the title role in an adaptation of Gustave Flaubert's novel of love and sacrifice. (Cinema 2; Aud A., 7:00) ANNA KARENINA (Clarence Brown, 1935) Busy week for Rathbone fans as Basil is on hand again to help support Greta Garbo's performance of the lead character in a film from Tolstoy's novel. (Cinema 2; AudA, 9:05) OCTOPUSSY (John Glenn, 1983) The most recent James Bond movie is also one of the best. Roger Moore is Bond, and Maude Adams and Louis Jordan costar for two hours of good, well- done fun.
