The pizzas in this Study were
divided into two categories: thick
crust and thin crust. The Steve
Pracht Pizza Scale (S.P.P.S.) was
employed to judge the pizzas.
Each was rated on a scale of 1-5
according to five characteristics:
crust (flavor and texture), sauce
(flavor and quantity), toppings
(quality and quantity), cheese
(quality and quantity), and pizza
hangover (the after effects which
remind you and others that you
had eaten a pizza). A maximum
of twenty-five points could be

earned on this scale. An out-
standing representative of the
thick crust category may be rel-
ished at Thano's Lamplighter
near The University of Michigan
in Ann Arbor. Thano's earned
twenty-one out of the possible
twenty-five points on the
S.P.P.S. In the past few years, I
have made several trips to Ann
Arbor, and my stops at Thano's
Lamplighter have become a rit-
ual. Pizza lovers simple have to
remember the spelling of their
favorite, food, P-I-Z-Z-A!
