OFFICIAL r N, ,,, 11BA LLOT Best of Ann Arbor I,,ALT All Ballots Must Be Returned by April 10 To Be included II t. Best pizza delivery Cottage Inn The second best pizza in town is the best pizza delivered in town, and right- fully so. Both regular and deep dish are available and both are covered with fresh, delicious ingredients. Hot, tasty, and delivered right to your door. Domino's, for many years the favorite delivered pizza around town, seems to be losing its following. The great pizza coupon war rages on. Best place to take a first date Maudes and Bicycle Jim's (tie) Rather than trying to make a call on this one, we'll call them both winners. RMt lallofs.Itoyld b.U. rynd ft.. MciMgq,,Daiy, X10 toyr,Ef. or PARTICIPATING RETAILERS. _. Both places are reasonably priced and offer similar menus. Impressive but, not overwhelming. It's also nice to be able to talk to the person you're out with and both places offer that. , Best Nachos The Pantree All we can say is don't order them alone unless you a) have a doggie bag or b) haven't eaten in three weeks. They're hot and covered with cheese, refried beans and guacamole. Best new restaurant Uno's The Windy City import blew into Ann Arbor last spring with the famed Chicago deep dish and promptly gar- nered support as the best new dining locality. Garlic fans praise the special garlic pizza. Running second is the more recently opened Ashley's, with Rabbi Guido's, the only combined Italian cafe and Jewish deli in town, taking third place. Best late night eats The Pan tree Was there ever any doubt? You haven't seen the real Ann Arbor until you've been to the Pantree at 3 a.m. and wondered what type of garden tool was used to cut your waiter's hair. Best Chinese restaurant China Garden A little bit of the orient on Washtenaw. China Garden has an ex- cellent lunch menu with numerous low priced specials. The restaurant is best known for its banquets, which are priced up to $500 per person. If you decide not to pay tuition for a term, it's certainly something to consider. Another Chinese restaurant worth noting is The Old China restaurant in Ypsi. Though outside the city limits, this restaurant offers many delicious treats including the best shrimp toast in the Midwest. Worth the trip. Most popular restaurant Cottage Inn The pizza, the service, the prices, the bar, and, unfortunately, the crowds. A favorite for the No-food-in-the-dorm-so- let's-go-out-for-Sunday-dinner crowd. Best deli Zingerman's Anyone surprised by this winner must have corned beef for brains. Best video arcade Mickey Rat 's Video Circus Twelve tokens for a dollar and a computer to boot. That's what Mickey Rat's has to offer. Some of you had some really hostile things to say about video arcades so we'd better not say too much. Best 2nd-hand clothing store Second Hand Rose Once again, down to the wire, but Rags to Riches will have to settle for second. Many ballots seemed to agree that new clothes aren't always the best clothes. Best men's clothing store Van Boven Good looking, quality clothes never go out of style, a fact Van Boven has certainly capitalized on. Makes one wish they had more money to spend on their wardrobe. Honorable mentions go to the Steeplechase, Vahan's, and Jacobson's. Best women's clothing store Bivouac It was neck and neck on this one, but in the last handful of ballots, Bivouac pulled ahead of Jacobson's to claim the best of Ann Arbor. Their brightly colored clothing is eyecatching and the prices are low enough to bring you in. The outdoors clothing and men's clothing selection also are worth a look. But, why shouldn't it - the place is an Ann Arbor tradition. Burgers come as golf ball- size patties which regulars refer to as "singles," "doubles," and "triples." If a cheese burger strikes your fancy, Krazy Jim's offers a choice of Swiss, bleu, American, provelone, or cheddar. To make matters even more con- fusing, Blimpy's offers a wide choice of breads and rolls to top off your burger as well as toppings ranging from grilled eggs to Hoffman salami to mild hot peppers. Definitely not one to be missed. P.S. Don't be afraid to return if you've been there already; Krazy Jim's boasts 245,760 different burger com- binations. ~B .
