The Michigan Daily-Thursday, October 7, 1982-Page 3 Stark to resign as Dean of Ed. School *y; FANNIE WEINSTEIN Claiming the School of Education's current budgetary review had no effect en; her decision, Jean Stark announced shp will not serve another five-year term as the school's dean. Stark, who came to the University in 1978, said that although her term ex- pites in July, it might be extended six months while the University searches for a new dean. AFTER HER term expires, Stark aid she plans to join the school's faculty as a professor of higher education. 'I think that after the review is over, it would be good for the school to have new leadership," Stark said. In ad- dition, because the school will be im- plementing several new programs Stark said she thought it would be bet- ter to bring in new people. Stark said she made her decision about six months ago and that there was no connection between the timing of her decision and the current review. "I WOULDN'T think it would have any effect at all," she said. "It's not an issue that has anything to do with the review." Stark also said she thought the search for a new dean would give the Univer- sity an opportunity to-make a positive committment to the School of Education. "I hope that after the review, it will have some effect in getting (University administrators) to look for someone," she said. -HAPPENINGS- Highlight The Michigan Union invites all to attend an oriental art sale from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. A representative of Marson Ltd. of Baltimore, Md., will be present to answer questions about the exhibit.
