" MC 's tracksters zip to intramural crown The race for all-year points continued this past week,, as the Intramural Track and Field Championships were held at Ferry Field Track. Participants in five different divisions ran, jumped and shot put their way toward the coveted IM crown. The MC's ran away with the indepen- dent championship, tallying 138 points. Beaver Patrol finished a distant second with 55. Mark McBroom won the high jump and the 100-meter dash to pace the MC onslaught. Testimony to the MC's dominance was the fact that they failed to win only one event. C.A. Rohn collected a pair of seconds for the Beaver Patrol and Mark Goethe's leap of 6'0" won the high jump for third place-finishers SSS. STEVEN Swinker's two first-place finishes led Chi Phi to victory in the Fraternity Division. Swinker long- jumped 20'11/2" and completed the 60- meter high hurdles in 7.97 seconds. Phi Sigma Kappa, paced by Tom Desim- ple's 400-meter dash victory and a win in the 1600-meter relay, finished a close second. Dennis Southard's two firsts helped Theta Chi finish third. Two first-place finishes from John Bonnell propelled Rumsey House to a victory in the Residence Hall com- petition. Both of Bonnell's victories were by less than a tenth of a second. In the 100-meter dash, Bonnell edged out Jim Lahrman of Adam's Ants and Larry Litogot and Nigel Hinds, both of Gomberg, to win in 12.04 seconds. Jeff Black and Joe Shea also captured first places for victorious Rumsey. Gom- ' berg placed second and Elliott finished third. The Women's competition turned out to be a two-team affair, with Thronson and Hunt (both from South Quad) fighting for the championship. In the end, it wasn't even close as the Thron- sonites bombed Hunt, 92-52. Nancy Skolinski collected three first-place finishes for the Thronson Thunder, winning the long jump, the 100-meter dash, and running third leg on Thron- son's victorious 1600-meter relay team. Kim Bruce won Hunt's only event, completing the 1600-meter run in 5:57.2. There was even less competition in the Graduate/Faculty/Staff division. DSDA won the title in a runaway. DSD A also happened to be the only team competing. Don Hobson compiled three first place finishes in the intra-squad scrimmage. Jim Hosner captured two more firsts. 11 11 11 IM Scores Softball Independent The MC's 5, Brewer's West 5 Beaver Patrol 10, Boys in Business 0 Kid Ginsoe and the Dilly Bars 12, Kappa Frank Zappa 3 Super UP'ers 7, Poop shooters 3 Adam's Alums 7, VBF Wallbangers 3 Ex-Hams 13.
