The appeals court affirmed a dismissal, by a Macomb County Circuit judge, of James and Kathleen Wood's suit seeking a permanent injunction against prosecution by William Finlan, attendance officer of the Richmond Public Schools. THE WOODS, in requesting an injun ction, said they have been "unduly bur- dened by the administrative and judicial inquiry" and that "further criminal action. . . would create an un- due burden." They also said the compulsory school attendance law violates the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which guarantees freedom of speech and religion. The Woods "have merely alleged that the prior criminal proceedings resulted, in an 'undue burden' upon them and', that any future proceedings would in- volve the same burden," the appeals court said. "This does not satisfy the irreparable injury requirement." r ' All that jazz Rachel Coffin shows here best form during auditions at the Michigan Union for a spot with the Impact Jazz dance group, which is sponsored by UAC. Korn would not comment on the specific case of dormitory Principe, saying to do so would breach client confidentiality. Korn said it had been several years since the last student suicide on cam- pus. A University law student killed himself in his Detroit suburban home last year. ROBERT HUGHES, director of housing, estimated that it had been roughly five years since the last suc- cessful suicide in a University dor- mitory.
