Dramatic highs and heart- breaking lows were quite prevalent throughout the whole week's schedule of games. This week's blowout of the week goes to the co-rec squad 'Awesome,' as it ran all over, up and down the hapless Axe Murders squad, chalking up a phenomenal 32-1 victory. A word to the wise, stay out of their way ! INDEPENDENT Sphinky's Crackers 15, Ex Gulls 14 Jim Leonhart's single with no one out in the bottom of the seventh capped a three-run rally which enabled the Crackers to triumph over the Gulls. Leonhart reached base five times on two hits, two walks and an error. Dave tyner, Dave Carroll and Jordan Schreier all had three hits for the Ex Gulls. Kid Ginsoe & Dilly Bars 7, Slush Puppies 6 The Dillies came from behind with a four-run sixth inning to overcome the Puppies. Brian Schurgin ws 3-3 with two runs scored and a pair of RBI's. The Slushers made a furious charge in the late innings but were unable to hold off Kid Ginsoe's charges. M Heads 8, The McGarret 12 6 Three consecutive home runs in the third inning by Jack O'Leary, Jerry Safranek and Joe Milonowski paced the Heads, who needed a run in the sixth to insure their victory. Derek Kerr was 3 for 4 with two runs scored for McGarret's squad. Beaver Patrol 13, True Blue 1 Mike Rucinski was 3-3 with a home run I.M. Roundup a double, a single, 4 RBIs and three runs scored to pace the Patrol. Scott Taylor tripled and scored the only True Blue run. FRATERNITY Alpha Tau Omega 13, Sigma Phi Epsilon 11 An eight-run first inning rocketed the Alpha Tau's out to a lead it never lost. Harry Davison was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and Doug Langrock was 2 for 3. John Stanly was 4 for 4 with two runs scored for Sigma Phi. Triangle 4Phi Psi 3 A thret-run fifth and Keith Korpi's winning run in the sixth won it for Triangle. Andy Antrassen was 2 for 3 with a run scored for the losers. Beta Theta Pi 17, Acacia 3 John Hindle was 4 for 5 with a home run and four runs scored as the Betas ravaged the Acacians. Eric Hansen was 3 for 4 and Andy Grem turned in a 2 for 3 effort for the Betas. John Stahl went 2 for 3 for Acacia. WOMEN Lady Blazers 11, W. D. Awesome 7 Although the Awesome ones jumped out to an early five-run lead, they were unable to hold off the Blazers , who were led by Judy Walton's three runs scored. Diane Williams tallied twice for W. D. RESIDENCE HALL Weekend Warriors 15, Bartlett Binzers 6 Eric Pfeil was 3 for 3 with a homer and two runs scored and five RBI's, and Brad Munlick was 3 for 4 with another pair of runs scored as the Warriors overcame an early six-run deficit to waste the Binzers. John Sharp had a home run and three RBI's for the Bar- tlett's. Tennis titde golf, foobc Kip Litton, Jim Tavens and Daisy Martin were the big winners in last weekend's intramural singles tennis championships. Litton took the men's advanced section while Tavens cap- tured the intermediate division. Martin took a combined advanced and inter- mediate women's tournament. Mat- ches were decided by an eight-game pro set, with a tie-breaker held at seven games all. Litton needed a tie-breaker in the second round to defeat Scott Prokken, then yielded only three more games in defeating Jim Chinarian and Fred Cromer in the semi-final and final rounds. Tavens defeated Jon Snead in the finals by an 8-5 score. Daisy Martin breezed through the women's tour- nament, giving up only two games the entire way, to runner-up Kim Fridkin in the finals. Participants in the All-Campus Golf Match Play Tournament, please note that due to limited time and a busy Rumsey Blue 26, Fisher 'A' 2 In more second round action, the Big Blue bombed hapless Fisher. Lonnie Grantham's 4 for 5 effort helped lead the parade of Rumsey runners who crossed the plate. Adam's 12's 10, The Dudes 9 Chris Larcinese knocked in Drumm Osbron with the winning run. in the bottom of the eighth, as The 12's advan- ced in the second round of playoffs. Larcinese also contributed a two-run homer to get things rolling early on for Adam's. Joe Greiser, Greg Kiselis, and Jim Fruchi homered for The Dudes. A match may be played on a dif- ferent golf, course than Michigan's if the University course has only limited tee times available. Remember, these exceptions are only applicable with prior agreement of both partners. Instant scheduling for softball playof- fs will begin at 11 a.m. on September 30 and continue until 8 p.m. that same night. Any team that fails to sign up for the playoffs will not be able to compete. Touch football instant scheduling is right around the corner. Starting Oc- tober 6 at 11 a.m. and continuing on un- til October 8 at 4:30, managers can sign their teams up to share in the color and pageantry of IM football. I.M.
