Former Chief Photographer Paul
Engstrom, left: "It was one of my first
assignments. The Goodyear blimp had arrived,
for the 1979 Notre Dame football game, and
the Daily wanted a feature. Though network
camera equipment didn't leave much room for
hitchhikers during these test flights at Ann Ar-
bor City Airport before the game, a reporter
and I were able to-fly to Flint Where Goodyear
had planned to take Buick VIPs for a spin the
next day."
Jackie Bell, above: "This little girl climbed
on the pole from a wall'during a carnival in'

Fez, Morocco in August, 1981. She seemed so
oblivious to the crowd below, full of snake
charmers, medicine men, and story tellers."
Kim Hill, below: "This photo was taken last/
summer during the week the Cincinnati Reds
visited Ann Arbor for Spring Training II. A
group of youngsters had stationed themselves
on the home-run fence in left field, hoping to
catch a souvenir. Well one of them did. The'
fifth future draft choice from the left just
caught the ball, and when he opened his eyes,
he saw what'every other envious youngster on.'
that fence had already seen."
