They're kicking us out of here this week to make room for the new sports editors, so this is the last time we'll get to 'meet like this. I guess we'd better talk about something important then. We could discuss how the athletic ad- ministration at this school views the role of the Daily. For some reason, many of the coaches and administrators in Michigan's athletic department feel that the Daily should be a partisan, support- the-school-at-all-costs sort of publication. Sorry, but that's what Go Blue! magazine was for. We try our best to be a professional, objective newspaper, reporting the good news as well as the bad. It's the school newspaper, sure, but that doesn't mean that it has to support everything that goes on here. It's just too bad that some people don't realize that. Journalistic immaturity We could also talk about college journalists in general. You have no doubt noticed that many people writing for college newspapers, including quite a few here at the Daily, feel that theyhave to write negative things in order to be good jour- nalists. Most of these immature people can be found working as entertainment reviewers and opinion page writers. When Bo Schembechler passed up Texas A&M's big bucks offer to stay at Michigan, did the Daily write an editorial praising his loyalty? No, instead the editorial page printed a stupid, mindless piece which totally missed the ... time to press on point, saying that college football was getting too year's Michigan-Ohio State game, the media were big. Wow, that's big news! It's just too bad that waiting in the conference room for Schembechler these people, some of whom actually have talent to come out. (AP) - Mike Bossy, the scoring machine of the Stanley Cup champion New York Islan- ders, pumped in two goals last night to propel the Prince of Wales Conference to a 4-2 victory over the Clarence Cam- pbell Conference in the National Hockey League All-Star game. Bossy, who has twice led the league in goals and has been an all-star in all five of his seasons with the Islanders, broke a 2-2 tie by poking home the rebound of a shot by defenseman Barry Beck of the New York Rangers with 2:50 remaining in the second period. He then clinched the game - and Most Valuable Player honors for him- self - by beating goalie Gilles Meloche of Minnesota on a breakaway 1:19 into IM Scores Monday Basketball Women Armageddon 54, Sweet Swishers 30 Superstars 40, Hunt 11 Stockwell 24, Zeta Tau Alpha 10 We're Talking Proud 2, Barbour 0 (forfeit) Residence Hall 'A' Mutiny 49, 2nd Rotvig 27 58 Corridor Bongers 45, Purple Haze 37 Schemps 33, Reeves Adolescents 31 Michigan House 31, Elliott Zuckowski's 22 Residence Hall'B' Huber Highs 2j, Adams Spasms 22 Mads 33, Scott 27 Fraternity 'A' Kappa Alpha Psi 56, Lambda Chi Alpha 45 Sigma Chi 41, Chi Psi 32 Fraternity 'B' Chi Phi 53, sigma Chi 29 Co-Rec Hi-Ho's 54, Umlauts 50 Remnants 38, Blue Bombers 16 Graduate/Faculty/Staff Spartans 39, Spasms 37 Penal Action 30, B-Ball Players 25 All Campus Loose Ball Fowls 50, Express IV 42 Stately Wayne Manor 33, Alpha Sigma Phi 32 Independent State Street Stoners 43, MC's 41 Powerhouse 81 54, 5th Avenue Fanatics 36 The Office 61, Disturbed Furniture 30 Cousins Causins 46, High Fives 45 Shockers 45, Tadr x 31 the final period. But the Wales struck back with a pair of goals 1:24 apart. Defenseman Ray. Bourque of Boston whipped a wrist shot past Campbell goalie Grant Fuhr of Edmonton on a power play at 12:03. then, at 13:27, Quebec's Marc Tardif poked in a goalmouth feed from Rick Middleton of Boston.
