The unscientific poll, which consisted of interviews of 200 randomly-selected students in various areas around cen- tral campus, asked respondents various questions about the 1980 Wolverines, ranging from opinions about coaching strategy to judgments about the level of fan interest in the team this season. Each student who was surveyed attended the South Carolina game last Saturday and professed to having at least a "partial" interest in Michigan football. FIFTY-NINE per cent of those polled refused to place the blame of Michigan's poor start on Schem- bechler's shoulders, while 41 per cent pointed the accusing finger at the Wolverine mentor. "When a team fumbles the ball so much like Michigan has during the season, it's no wonder why they're losing ball games," said Paul Max, a junior in Engineering from Detroit. Max's thoughts were shared by those of LSA junior Jim Martin. "THE EXECUTION mistakes hurt. The fumbles and (John) Wangler's in- the Gamecock contest. "When you're playing against a team that has a back like (George) Rogers, you've got to punt the ball away," said >: :. -......: x:: -::.v::v: :,nai: is :. :::. :.v-:::, - s.. : t:: :v:::. ::+:v::::.: ::::.......::::::::.:".:: ¢v:::: v::r; ?i: +4: . ...........v....... r. ... ... ......., ..".:::::. : w.v:n,}...........~}'f.:+r:::y;:::}"i:::;:8:"?:v:":i iiri:" ii}: :::..y ............... vv. ::. v..... a :::. v.:.... .. }... ::. .. s'.: ".t:v ": nom:?::::.:.
