It also promotes what it calls "a first- class product with exciting news, stats, and facts about Wolverine sports." PALADINO IS confident GO BLUE! will succeed where LeDuc failed-in terms of financial well-being. He theorized that LeDuc "got too big, too fast," and lacked the entrepreneurial quality which he feels is now presentin the new operation. "Everything is falling into place," he said. "We've got all the money we need ... more than we need." It took some long, grueling months and a heavy dose of frustration, but Paladino seems to have brought "the magazine devoted exclusively to Michigan sports" back in one piece, and he hopes GO BLUE! will stay that way for a long time.'. . this time. Michigan magazine found that GO BLUE! stopped arriving in the mail *last February. The magazine's publisher, LeDuc Enterprises, Inc. filed for bankruptcy on March 1, and apparently ended the brief existence of GO BLUE! The corporation had marketed similar publications at 25 other schools, but it entered several un- profitable markets, and simultaneously failed to generate sufficient advertising revenue in the remaining markets. LAST SEPTEMBER, Larry OPaladino, former state sports editor of the Associated Press was appointed to the editorship of GO BLUE! When LeDuc went under five months later, Paladino went down with it. The pangs associated with sudden unemployment, in addition to the wave of interest that was generated in the magazine, com- pelled Paladino to seek financial sup- port to continue its publication. Paladino spent six months devoting himself to such a project. He found initial support from Craft Printers, the East Lansing-based com- pany which printed GO BLUE! and Michigan State's version, Spartacade. They helped spearhead the drive, along with Paladino, which eventually Collegiate Sports Publications raised more than enough money to roll the presses for the September editions. "EXCELLENT BUSINESS people," in Paladino's words, were elected as of- ficers of the new corporation. Adver- tising sales generate a sizable amount of revenue-in fact, Paladinio expects GO BLUE! to break even "sooner than expected." For a time, he said, those subscriptions which went unhonored when LeDuc ceased operations will be continued at Midwest Collegiate's ex- pense. While the editorial format of GO BLUE! has remained basically the same under the new ownership, its size and appearance have changed. Instead of publishing one issue per week during football season and one per month the remainder of the year, Paladino ex- plained that the new edition will appear in magazine form monthly from August to March, and bi-monthly from April to July. A condensed version of GO BLUE!, in newsletter form, will be sent to subscribers on a weekly basis during football season, and bi-weekly the remainder of the year. This month's issue, which marks the resumption of GO BLUE!, contains a rbd Y 2 MORE NIGHTS Coo (I, TONIGHT 6 PM presents 'I..
