"Neither side made any change in position," said Shelly Ettinger, vice- president of TEU. "The meeting merely got both sides to confirm where they stood," said AATA Executive Director Richard Simonetta. "Nothing definite was set up. TEU EMPLOYEES .are currently working under the terms of an AATA contract proposal made July 29th. A 42- day strike by TEU workers, which halted local bus service, ended August 11, but the union never reached an agreement with the transportation authority. Simonetta added that TEU recently dropped one lawsuit against AATA ,regarding its enforcement of clause 13(c) of the Federal Mass Transpor- tation Act, passed in 1974. "The clause deals with how we use our federal funds . . . but TEU thinks it means we're required to submit to binding ar- bitration," he explained. Although the Michigan Employment Relations Commission has sent both sides official notification that a fact- finder has been appointed to the case, both Ettinger and Simonetta said that no fact-finder has yet arrived on the scene. "The state has been fairly evasive as to what they're doing about the mat- ter," said Ettinger. But Simonetta felt differently about the absence of a fact-finder from the case. "While they (MERC) did of- ficially appoint someone, they are holding things in abeyance until something else happens," he said, ad- ding that he was fairly sure TEU was going to push for getting a fact-finder. * AMTRAK to Call: * THANKSGIVING F1 IVrH TC Notre Dame Game Sn-'$- 769.1776 to New York $118 Price to be announced Also Philadelphia flights 216 S.
