Women's Network-Potluck brunch, noon, Guild House, 802 Body found in park A body with a gunshot wound to the head was discovered Wednesday by two Ann Arbor residents in a park near the Broadway Street bridge. A note and a .357 caliber revolver lay next to the body of the man who police say died from a self-inflicted shot. Swindlers net jewelry It seemed too good to be true-and it was. An Ypsilanti woman shopping at Briarwood Wednesday afternoon was approached by a man who ex- citedly showed her an envelope con- taining about $700 he had just "found," police said yesterday. Another man approached the pair looking at the money and said'he saw the first man find it. Out of the goodness of his heart, it seemed, the finder offered to share his good fortune and give each of them $150. But first, he said, he would have to go intothe J.C. Penney store and get some smaller bills so they could divide the money more easily. A few minutes later he returned, saying the manager told him -he couldn't change the bills without something to serve as collateral. The woman handed him three rings, a watch, and $50 in cash and both menwent back into Penney's. When they didn't return, the woman discovered the manager at the store never spoke with the men she described. The "pigeon drop" victim repor- ted $3,200 in lost valuables. $2.50 CASH BACK from Michigan Bell Return an yunused Michigan Bell Telephone sets to any one of these locations. No questions asked.
