These musicians were. photographed this year, usually after energetic
performances. Their 'poses' vary from somber intensity to the classic teeth-
flash. The backstage wait to photograph the performers is generally twenty
minutes, except in the case of James (is back) Brown. The Godfather of Soul
emerged from his dressing room an hour-and-a-half later with a freshly coiffed
hair-do and not a trace of sweat.
