But a parliamentary spokesmanf indicated that the two measurest probably would be approved today. b THE OFFICIAL Iranian news agency quoted Ahmed Azizi as denyingp "rumors" that the hostages would bep released on Friday, the deadline Washington has set for an agreement with the Carter administration. In an interview with Pars, Azizi men- tioned President-elect Ronald Reagan in connection with the negotiations, saying, "Obviously Reagan's threats would not have a positive effect on the normal process of this task." Azizi did not elaborate and it was not clear if he was suggesting that negotiations might not be completed before Reagan takes office, Jan. 20. Reagan has said that if agreement is not reached by Jan. 20 the new ad- ministration would feel free to start the negotiations anew. THE U.S. TEAM headed by Deputy Secretary of State Warren Christopher held two more meetings with their Algerian intermediaries but a top aide to Christopher said, "I was skeptical from the start and nothing has changed that." In Washington, the State Department said Christopher had reported that 'progress continues to be made' toward freeing the hostages from their 437 days of captivity but "cautioned against optimism because fundamental problems remain." "I asked for Mo-Jo, Markley, and West Quad just like everybody else, mostly because of what I'd heard (about the atmosphere) from friends," said Chris Sheridan, a freshperson at West Quad. "WE USED TO have'a reputation for beng a real jock dorm," said West Quad building director Leon West. "I guess we have a reputation for being a party dorm, but there aren't any more parties here than anywhere else," he said, quipping, "They're just better." A student without any prior contact with the University has to rely on the descriptions provided by the housing department, Salowit? said. He said many-especially women-shy away from North Campus because of its location. (AP) - Five-year-old Alan Madden, a shy blond youngster Who once came to kindergarten so ob- viously battered that he could not be in he class photograph, will be buried today in a donated cemetery plot 0overed with flowers from strangers. Alan was found beaten to death in his hOme Sunday after police received a tip from an anonymous caller. Adams Cpunty Coroner Wayne Johnson at- ibuted death to "extensive injuries to the abdomen." HIS MOTHER, Pam Berg, 24, and a tbyfriend, James Crain, 26, were (barged with murder, and were being *4dwithout bond. "They just didn't get up in thi mor- ning and decide to do it," he said. "They must have known the route and known its last stop. "ALSO, THEY picked a day when the banks were closed, knowing that the truck would be carrying more than the usual amount of money." Livonia Lt. William Collins said in- vestigators were still questioning the van's two-man crew, driver Anthony Ingrao, 38, of Grosse Pointe, and par- tner, Henry Barksdale, Jr., of Detroit. Earlier, police revealed the van em- ployes used rubber band devices to permit them to open the passenger door from the outside instead/ of only from the inside. "The door was apparently not locked," added Collins, who noted the devices enabled one of the bandits to enter the van and surprise Ingrao before he could draw his gun. THe holdup occurred when Barksdale went into a bakery to pick up receipts. He told police the van was gone when he returned. Authorities said Redford Township police received an anonymous call about an hour later from a woman who. told them the van was parked near a bar about five miles from the factory. Police said the hijackers told Ingrao they would "blow his head off" unless he followed instructions but that no weapon was ever displayed to back up the threat. THIS SUNDAY! es rest on reputations According to the housing division statistics, preferences have not changed much during the past decade. "This place moves kind of like an iceberg," Salowitz said. "Very slowly." But there are some unusual requests on housing applications placed. by people who often have no particular dorm preference. "We've had people ask for a room with southern exposure for their plants, and there's one I'll never forget," Salowitz said. "A mother came in, up- set because her child was living in a blue room. She thought it would be psychologically depressing. I told her that our fine psychology department would never allow us to furnish rooms that would be depressing," he said. "We can't please everyone, either with roomcolor or with residence hall placement," he said. "There are 7400 spaces altogether, and with an entering class of 4400, not everyone is going to be able to get exactly what they want."
