(AP)--Detroit's Rick Leach drove in Darrell Brown with a line single in the ninth inning last night as a split squad of Tigers earned a 6-5 exhibition baseball victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. With the score tied 5-5, Brown hit a pinch single off Philadelphia reliever Sparky Lyle, went to second on Steve Kemp's sacrifice bunt and scored from second on Leach's liner. DETROIT reliever Aurelio Lopez, making his first appearance of the spring, worked the ninth inning for the victory. The Phillies scored two in the first and three more in the fourth, all off Mark Fidrych, who had another disap- pointing outing, yielding 10 hits and five runs in four innings. Detroit got one in the third, one in the fourth and two in the fifth when John Wockenfuss homered with Kemp on board, and tied it with one in the sixth. IN AN AFTERNOON game, Dave Tobik pitched four shutout innings and scored Detroit's first run as the Tigers defeated the Houston Astros, 3-1. Tobik singled off losing pitcher Joe Niekro to start the third inning, was bunted to second and scored on Tim Corcoran's single. CORCORAN DOUBLED in the fifth and scored on Lance Parrish's single to make it 2-0 and Detroit got its final run in the sixth when Tom Brookens singled, went to second on an infield out and scored on a wild pitch by Niekro and a throwing error by catcher Dave Roberts. (AP) -Robin Yount's three-run triple and Don Money's two-run homer highlighted a nine-run fourth inning as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Cleveland Indians 11-7 in exhibition baseball yesterday. Tim Tookey opened the scoring at 14:15 of the first period while Detroit's Jean Hamel was serving a high- sticking penalty. Mike Gartner boosted the Capitals' lead to 2-0 when he scored his 45th goal of the season on a power play at 6:57 of the middle stanza. THE SHUT OUT was the 17th of Palmateer's five-year National Hockey League career. He fell to the ice to save a shot by Detroit's Mike Foligno to preserve the shut out with six seconds remaining in the game. The win, only the fourth in the last 20 road games for Washington, moved the Capitals into 15th place in the overall NHL standings. Maple Leafs 3, Uruins 2 BOSTON (AP)-Wilf Paiement scored one goal and assisted on Terry Martin's tie-breaker nine minutes into the third period as the Toronto Maple Leafs, fighting for a National Hockey League playoff berth, beat the Boston Bruins 3-2 yesterday. The victory snapped the Maple Leafs' 12-game winless streak against the Bruins and moved them into the 16th and last playoff berth in the overall standings. Toronto started the day 17th but moved ahead of Edmonton.
