gage 12-Friday, January 16, 1981-The Michigan Daily By RON POLLACK In this, their second meet of the year, the men's track team will enter a partial squad in an invitational where the score will not be kept. Nonetheless, when the Wolverines travel to the Eastern Michigan Invitational today, a definite purpose Trac to e t will be served. The primary significance of this meet is that it will allow freshman tracksters, along with those who might not nor- mally compete in away meets, to showcase their talents. "It hoa egives us a little bit of a yardstick to see if they'll be able to help us later," said Head Coach Jack Harvey. IN ADDITION TO the Wolverines, other teams competing will be from the Mid-America conference, Michigan State, along with junior and community colleges. Of these squads, the largest contingents will be State, Eastern Michigan and Bowling Green. Entering this meet, Harvey is satisfied with his team's progress, although he does not place a great deal of emphasis BIG TEN ROUNDUP on the early portion of the season. "We're as far along asv usually are at this point in the season," said Harvey. "We not interested at this time of year in being in top shape. We) more interested in being in top shape three or four weeks in the season." While Harvey may not be taking most of his top athlete the Wolverines will not be totally deficient of such perfo mers. Two examples are Marshall Parks and Shelby Johns who finished second and third respectively in the 110 mel high hurdles at last years Big Ten Champtionships. PARKS, A LINEBACKER, is just coming off of the footb season and has had little opportunity to prepare for tra "He won't be as ready as he will be for the rest of the year said Harvey. "It's easier for Marshall to come out and r the hurdles, than for Butch (Woolfolk) to run the 300." According to Harvey, Johnson will run in this me because he "needs some work over the high hurdles." we re re nto OSU annihilates NUf OT SU DAY, IDAY, OT A OT TUESDAY OT WEDNESDAY( OT THURSDAY, OT FRIDAY, s, COLUMBUS (AP)-Clark Kellogg or- scored a career high 42 points and on grabbed 14 rebounds last night, leading ter Ohio State to a 81-69 Big Ten basketball romp over Northwestern. all The Buckeye's victory set up a ck; nationally televised showdown Sunday r, with visiting Indiana, another prime un contender for' the Big Ten champion- ship. et, The previous college scoring high by Kellogg, a 6-foot-7 sophomore, was 23 points against Cleveland State in the opening game this season. Pro- duced and directed by Victoria Schultz, a Finnish filmmaker, it examines the part played by women, both in the struggle against Somoza and in the reconstruction process which is changing Nicaraguan society in basic ways . Through women's eyes the film focuses on a wide range of related topics, from the family to the revolutionary mass organizations to the new Sandinist Popular Army. The situation the documentary portrays suggest that Nicaragua's battles against tyranny, underdevelopment, and machismo are relevant to both women and men in other countries as well. Revolutionary processes have necessarily to liberate, women. Any sort of process that doesn't liberate women, gradually perhaps, is no revolution. Women here have reached a certain point. They won't go back. They'll keep advancing, gaining ground. But always as women. -Dora Maria Tellez Guerilla Commander in Nicaragua Comite Latinoamericano, Ethics and Religion, Ann Arbor Committee for Human Righfts in Latin America KENWOOD K01600 BELT-DRIVE TURNTABLE Semi-automatic belt-drive turntable.
