Uferisms Bob Ufer will not only be remembered for the enthusiasm he showed while broadcasting Michigan football, but also for the dialogue he used. The following is a list of the more memorable quips which were dubbed "Uferisms." "He went down that mod sod (Tartan Turf) like a penguin with a hot herring in his cummerbund. "-Ufer describing an Anthony Carter pass pattern. "If he kicks this field goal, he'll be the greatest thing since sliced bread, since Cleopatra on the Nile. "-Ufer on the Wolverine kicker Mike Lantry. "He could run 15 minutes in a phone booth and he wouldn't even touch the sides. "-referring to former tail- back Gordon Bell. "He went in there like a bat outa, well, you know where bats come from. "-referring to former Michigan fullback Russell Davis. "He went in there like a bull with a bee in his~ear. "- referring to former tailback Roosevelt Smith. "They are going to hear about this from coast to coast. From the coast of Lake Michigan to the coast of Lake Huron.
