A statement issued by the 15-member ruling Politburo said Solidarity had fallen under the influence of "Western sabotage," becoming a subversive political force that had brought economic ruin to Poland. THE PARTY SAID Solidarity, at its first national congress last week, had embarked on a course of "building an 'The situation has become dangerous, and the counter- revolutionary threat is growing.' --Politburo statement opposition political organization which openly set itself the goal of changing the poltical system of Poland.". The congress called for free elec- tions, a national referendum on workers' reforms and sent a message of support to free trade union organizers elsewhere in the East bloc. I Feel Isolated? The message of support brought a furious response from the Soviet Union and other East bloc news media, which have repeatedly criticized the Polish government and the country's year- long series of labor and social reforms. THE POLITBURO accused the entire union of abandoning workers' interests and embracing those of "oppositional and counter-revolutionary groups, such as KOR, the dissident Committee for Social Self- ~efense and the anti- Communist C6nfederation of Indepen- dent Poland. The statement accused Solidarity of breaking agreements under which the union was organized and turning toward "a program of political op- position which hits at the vital interests of the Polish nation, and is tantamount to a direction towards confrontation threatening bloodshed." Solidarity was also charged with adoptingf "a course toward a new national tragedy,"by the statement, read by a television announcer after the evening news program. "THE STATE will use for its defense such means as required by the situation," according to the statement. 1"The situation has become dangerous, and the counter-revolutionary threat is growing." The statement, came hours after dissident leader Jacek Kuron said the Communist Party was "paralyzed" and called on it to share power with the Roman Catholic Church and Solidarity in a committee until democratic elec- tion of a new government, according"to the union newspaper. HE SAID A "Council of National Salvation" should be formed of union, church and moderate government and party officials to rubh the country. "The moment the council is formed, it would suspend operation of all authorities, including the goverg nment," he said. KURON HAS long been targeted by Moscow as head of they "anti-socialist" forces charges are trying to manipulate Solidarity. His commentary-published as his personal opinion and not that of the union itself-came as the Kremlin stepped up its propaganda campaign against the 10 million menber union. Quoting Polish Communist officials, theSoviet news agency Tass said "an extremely acute and tough political struggle of an anti-socialist and anti- Communist nature is being wage behind the backs of the working people" in Poland.
