Page Four THE MICHIGAN DAILY Wednesday, July 21, 1976 while you are in Ann Arbor for the Art Fair Shop the Sales VWNTOIN DURING SARGAIN HAYS Iow often do yon find retail merchants and artists and craftspeople who sell only original work collaborating to bring you exceptional offerings and values for almost anything you'd like to buy? All of this is happening on Main St., Ann Arbor's original shopping district, with the simultaneous occurance of Mait St. Bargain Days and the University of Michigan Artists and Craftsmen Guild-sponsored Srmmer Arts Festival. The association hetween these two groups began 3 years ago in response to both of their needs. The Downtown Business District Associationrwanted to emphsasize their Bargain Days wtth the color and activity of an art fair such as the M-U Artist and Craftsmen Guild's Free Arts Festival on East Uni- versity. The Guild, being inundated with requests for booth spaces, was eager to find more places for its artists and craftspeople to exhibit. And so, July, 1973 marked the opening of what is now the Summer Arts Festival and Main St. Area Bargain Days. Come and see for yourself the immense variety in the Main St. area. The Main St. area merchants are offering you their best sales of the year. The U-M Artists and Craftsmens Guild's Summer Arts Festival will be presenting over 200 artists showing, demonstrating and selling their original, hand- crafted work. You'll see pottery, weaving, jewelry, painting, leaded glass, sculpture, batik, woodwork, macrame, leather, handmade musical instru- ments, apple sculpture, puppets, needlepoint and even more. Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday-Friday. and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. Make Main St. your first stop July 21-24t London Flowers 109 E.
