Poge Twelve THE MICHIGAN DAILY Tuesday, June 15, 1976 Patek's double sinks Tigers By The Asociated Press DETROIT-Fred Patek dou- bled in two runs and Al Fitz- morris picked up his eighth victory last night as the Kansas City Royals extended their win- ning streak to six games with a 5-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers. Patek's double came in the seventh and gave the Royals a 5-1 lead. It followed a leadoff single by Al Cowens and a double by Tom Poquette. Patek's hit knocked starter Frank MacCormack - making his major league debut-out of the game in favor of Jim Crawford. Fitzmorris gave up six hits and raised his record to 8-2. He was relieved by Steve Mingori in the seventh due to an injury, apparently to his right knee. He walked off the field without help. Mingori w a s replaced by Marty Pattin, who was followed by Tom Hall with the bases loaded and one out in the De- troit ninth. Hall struck out both batters he faced to set the Ti- gers aside and save the triumph. The light-hitting Sutherland knocked in three runs as Tan- ana, 8-5, lost a bid to take the American League's sole lead in victories this season. Charlie Moore doubled lead- ing off the Brewers' third and scored on a single by Suther- land. Singles by Von Joshua and Money produced another run and set up Aaron's homer, the third this year for baseball'; career record-holder. A two-out single by Gorman Thomas and Sutherland's first homer of the year gave the Brewers a 7-1 lead in the fourth and Money hit a solo homer, his ninth of the campaign, in the fifth.
