A State Police spokesman said the escapee, David Closser, 19, was taken into custody after the stolen car he was driving was rammed by another state police car and flipped end over end. HIS HOSTAGE, Connie Allen, 16, of rural Ionia, was released unharmed. She was taken by ambulance to an Ionia hospital for an examation. The extent of Closser's in- juries was not immediately known, but a State Police spokesman said the car he was in was demolished. Closser escaped from the Ionia Reformatory at about 14 a.m. Tuesday. He abducted Miss Al- len at her rural Ionia home around 5 p.m. and fled down I-96 towards Detroit in the stolen police car. SEVERAL STATE police cars and an ambulance followed Clos- ser down the freeway, keeping. in constant contact with him through police radio. At the Fowlerville area, Closser agreed to release Miss Allen. Police said Closser was armed with a high-powered deer rifle. "Apparently o u r emergency service team had been negotiat- ing with him," a State Police spokesman in Lansing said. "They were successful in talk- ing him out of the hostage. "After he freed the girl, he took off in the car at a high speed. Then in a very short time, he was stopped." m Doctor Diag's do- it-yourself dialogue ., p p1 . -TONIGHT HAPPY HOUR W HALF-PRICE On6 ALL DRINKS 7-9:30 15c HOT DOGS every Friday from 2-5 p.m., while they last HALF PRICE ON BEER Tuesday's from 7- 11 p.m. 310 MAYNARD (Continued from Page 5) Robnnson shows up for City Council every Monday night, or "whenever they meet." "I am not a god," he thunders to his Diag audience, "I am an Ann Arbor town council person." AS DR. DIAG strides around the Diag, he frequently stops to chalk chemical formulas on the ground. 'Goldwater plus Mari- juana' is just one of the state- ments often written in chemical symbols. "Do you think I'm psychotic?" asks Robinson casually. "Thir- teen psychiatrists think I am. "This may sound jive," he continues, "but I'm learning the piano to develop my brain." Occasionally d u r i n g Robin- son's tirade he pauses to recite the Greek alphabet. "Alphabeta- gammadelta ...," he says, the We know what to do U of M Stylists at the UNION open Mon.-Sat. words running together. His voice drops as he comes to the end of his recitation. "Oooonoo- ooneeeeeeegaaaaaa," he chants almost meditatively. CONTINUING on with his Diag discussions, Robinson tip- toes carefully around the bronze 'M' in the middle of the Diag ("I don't step on it because I don't want to flunk out of school"), and explains his feel- ings on people's reactions to- ward him. "Jesus, of course I care about people laughing," he snaps, "and talking about Jesus, he was a very natural comedian." "Do you know," he jumps typ- ically onto a totally different subject, "that I have slept with 15 prostitutes? You know why? Because I love running for town council.' DON'T WORRY if you don't understand evertyhing (or any- thing) that Dr. Diag is saying- there are probably few people whisdio. Just don't be surprised if somewhere, sometime when you leass cxpect it, somone steps up to v"s ad says, "I'm running for town council because I need a new pair of shoes."
