Yastrzemski hit a tie-break- ing homer in the eighth inning and capped a four - run ninth with his seventh of the sea- son, again with a man on base. It was the 11th time in major league history one player hit five in two consecutive games and the first time an American Leaguer did it since New York's Tony Lazzeri in 1936. Rick Burleson homered with a man on base in the seventh for Boston's first two runs as the surging Red Sox defeated Ed Figueroa, 3-3, for only the second time in six career deci- sions. Burleson's shot was the first- Boston homer over off Figueroa. A bench - clearing brawl erupted in the seventh inning: after a collision at home plate between Yankee runner Lou Piniella and Red Sox catcher Carlton Fisk. Boston pitcher Bill Lee, who was ejected along with New York third baseman Graig Net- tles, apparently was injured in the melee. The left - hander, bent over and clutching his pitching shoulder, walked off the field assisted by the Red Sox trainer. The fight began after Boston right fielder Darrel Evans threw Piniella out at the plate as he tried to score from sec- ond on a single by Otto Velez. Piniella bowled Fisk over while trying to jar the ball loose and the two players rushed each other as they sat on the ground. Then they began swinging. Nettles, who was on base at the time, charged after Lee as players from both benches poured into the scrap around home plate. After things quiet- ed for a minute, Nettles went after Lee for a second time with first baseman Chris Chambliss and outfielder Mick- ey Rivers of the Yankees swinging on the outskirts of the mound. Nettles and Lee were the only players ejected. Philhies fly NEW YORK - The Philadel- nhia Phillies jumped on Tom Seaver for four runs in the first inning, two on Greg Luzinski's double, and held on to beat the New York Mets 5-3 yesterday behind Jim Lonborg and Tug McGraw. Dave Kingman of the Mets and Mike Schmidt of the Phil- lies each hit his 15th home run, of the season to retain their co-leadership of the major league lead. The unbeaten Lonborg scatter- ed nine hits in 623 innings to pick up his sixth victory of the season. Seaver absorbed his third straight loss after posting four straight victories. Dave Cash opened the game for the Pils with a walk and raced to third when Larry Bowa singled to right. After Schmidt struck out, Luzinski scored both runners with his double into the right field corner. After that decisive first, Sea- ver pitched no-hit bali for the next five innings and didn't give up another run until Schmidt home red in the eighth. .The Mets were held scoreless by Lonborg until the sixth when, with one out, John Milner sin- gled past first base and King- man crashed his 15th homer of the season. Schmidt hit the first pitch he saw in the eighth inning into the Philadelphia bullpen for his 15th homer of the year, moving him back into a tie with King- man for the major league lead. Lous Bruck opened the Cards' first with a single off Doc Med- ich and stole his fifth base of the season before scoring two outs later on Reggie Smith's grounder. fed Simmons then singled, the first of his four hits, and rookie Jerry Mumphrey singled in a rin following a walk to Ron Fairly before Tyson brought in two more runs.
