Security police made scores
of preventive arrests. An offi
cial said those detained were
"of all nationalities."
Basque guerrillas, known by
the initials ETA, are sought for
assassinating Spain's premier,
Adm. Lis Carreo Blanco, 17
months pgo in Madrid. They re-
cently launched a campaign of
killing off police inrthe Basque
region from ambush, prompting
the government to order a
three-month state of emergency
in two of Spain's four Basque
provinces.
POLICE have arrested hun-
dreds while looking for the kill-
ers without success.
Franco and Ford are expect-
ed to ride in an open automobile
for at least part of the motor
cade through Madrid. They will
be guarded by six Spanish army
battalions plus hundreds of
plainclothes and uniformed po
