Former women Olympic athletes and coaches, educators, and some of the top women journalists and editors are scheduled to address the National Conference on Women's Sports, "Ethics and the Amateur Principle." "I have simply been overwhelmed by the nation-wide re- sponse from people who have agreed to participate in this conference," said Marie Hartwig, Michigan's associate director for women's athletics, who organized the conference. "We have the best people available to talk about every phase of amateur athletics and I would think anyone who has the least bit of interest in women's athletics would want to be with us," Hartwig added. "We have experts in every field of amateur athletics, from training and nutrition to coaching, performance and administra- tion," Hartwig said. Coaching clinics will be offered by both men and women coaches. Lucille Kyvallos, Queen College (N.Y.) basketball coach; Neil Jackson from Michigan State and member of the Olympic Track and Field Committee; Gus Stager, Michigan's swimming- coach, and Mimi Murray, Springfield College gym- nastics coach, will conduct the clinics. Robben Fleming will open the conference Tuesday, June 3, at 9:15 a.m., and the sessions will run until 10 p.m. Athletic Director Don Canham will open the Wednesday session at 8:45 a.m., and Carolyne Davis, associate vice president for academic affairs, will open the session Thursday at 8:45 a.m. The final day will be devoted to the role of the media in omen's athletics. Registration will be open each morning at the Rackham Lec- ture Hall.
