Tec into league Maitn Leagu Sa (AP) - Virginia Tech, an indepen- dent since it dropped out of the Southern Conference 13 years ago, has been accepted as a member of the basketball-oriented Metro 7 Conferen- ce. Metro Commissioner Larry Albus of St. Louis said Tech will immediately become eligible to compete for con- ference championships. Other teams in the league - more formally the Metropolitan Collegiate Athletic Conference - are Louisville, Cincinnati, Florida State, Memphis State, Tulane and St. Louis. Georgia Tech was a member until recently. Albus denied that Virginia Tech, a sprawling university of 19,000 students in the western Virginia mountains at nearby Blacksburg, is a replacement for Georgia Tech. He said talks with Virginia Tech about possible membership had been going on "for some time" before Georgia Tech gained the ACC member- ship for which Virginia Tech had been rejected last year. Here you see Jamie in the Red Cross shelter, thinking it y o u all over. One look at that face, and we're awfully glad we were there to help. Every year, you know, Red Cross touches the lives of mil- lions upon millions of Americans. Rich. Poor. Average. Black. White. Christian and Jew. With support. With comfort.
