Bucyk, 43, played 23 NHL seasons, 21 with Boston. He is second on the all-time list to Gordie Howe, who played 25 seasons in the NHL before moving to the WHA. Bucyk began his playing career in 1955 with the Detroit Red Wings. He was traded to the Bruins for goalie Terry Sawchuk in June 1957. He finished with 556 goals, 545 for the Bruins. Bucyk also scored 41 playoff goals - 40 for Boston - but did not play in the Bruins' Stanley Cup final series this year against the victorious Montreal Canadiens. Bucyk scored five goals and had 13 assists last season. It was the first time he had scored fewer than 20 goals since 1966-67. On the all-time scoring list, Bucyk ranks behind Howe, Bobby Hull and Phil Esposito. Hondo not in line SAN DIEGO (AP) - Owner Irv Levin of the new NBA team in San Diego said yesterday that neither Bill Sharman nor John Havlicek is his choice as head coach. Havlicek was quoted over the weekend as saying he wants to stay in Boston and work in broadcasting. Ycuc ILOYav jica . ac au .vCvU t ting average on May 3.
