ce, Steve Williams and defending AAU

Trojans advance in Series
OMAHA-Hard-throwing Casey Lindsey of Arizona State scattered six
Miami hits last night to win his second start in the College World Series with
an 11-3 victory over the Hurricanes in a losers' bracket contest.
The loss eliminated Miami, 50-12, from the series. In Wednesday night's
second game, undefeated Southern California faced North Carolina, which
had lost one game.
Lindsey, a southpaw who won the Sun Devils opener against St. John's,
gave up only a run-scoring single and a solo home run to Randy Guerra and
boosted his record to 7-1. _
Lindsey needed relief help in the eighth inning when Miami's Rick Pazo
singled and Ron Batter walked. Arizona State Coach Jim Brock took no
chances and brought in freshman Ken Jones to finish off Miami. Jones gave
up the third Miami run in the ninth when Tony Brewer tripled and a fielder's
choice allowed the run to score.
Guerra was brought in to relieve loser Aguie Ruiz, 13-4, in the Sun
Devils' four-run sixth inning. The Hurricanes committed two errors that
contributed to three of the four Arizona State runs and the Sun Devils
finished Guerra off by battering him for five funs in the ninth inning.
