Reports must also be made following the election if contri- butions or debts are still out- standing. BELCHER'S April 11 financial report listed $14,394.17 in ex- penses. Two days prior to the election he reported $11,500 in contributions. Wheeler's April 11 report listed nearly $14,000 in both expenses and contributions. The third party candidate, Nixon s voitce showed stress NEW YORK (P) - A voice analyst who monitored Richard Nixon's television interview says the former president gen- erally believed what he was say- ing but that on at least six occasions he displayed high lev- els of stress, possibly indicating deception. "We cannot definitely say something was a lie," said Car- mine Pellosie Jr. "We can say that a statement was stressful for an individual and indicates probable deception." Pellosie, chief analyst of Law Enforcement Associates of Belleville, N. J., analyzed Nix on's voice with a lie-detector type instrument at the request of the New York Post. The analyzer; which he said compares favorably with tradi- tional polygraph lie detectors, showed that Nixon reacted sig- nificantly most of the time on the word "cover-up," Pellosie found. Throughout the campaign Bel- cher stated that he planned to spend between $25-30,000. Morris said she believed that Belcher spent at least that amount al- though the April 11 report listed only $14,000 in expenses. BELCHER c a l I e d Morris' charges "ridiculous" but said "t think we made some techni- cal mistakes" in reporting ex- penses on contributions. He list- ed confusion over the used of post office box addresses rather than the required street address- es as well as group names in- stead of listing individuals in his report as the reason why the original statement was lower than earlier predicted. Belcher has since refiled his financial statement and lists nearly $20,000 in contributions and expenses. "We'll continue to file every six months as long as we still have (contributions and ex- penses) outstanding," Belcher said. MORRIS SAID, however, that she intends to follow up on Bel- cher's financial reports. "I don't want to imply anything," she said. "But to-me it (reporting expenses and contributions fol- lowing the election) violates the spirit of the law" which was in- tended to alleviate campaign funding deception in city elec- tions. Morris said she will discuss the matter with Acting City At- torney Bruce Laidlaw before taking further action. Laidlaw was out of town and unavailable for comment. 2 & 4 MONTH LEASES / Bargain For Hunters- IH[ DAI[Y CLASSIFIEDS make interesting reading The Your challenge is to enter numbers in the empty boxes below so that each vertical column and horizontal row will add up to 100. 21 28 8 9 14 21 31 30 25 FINE DINING 11:30M-9:DOPM DAILY When there's a challenge, quality makes the difference.
