THE SENATE will vote next Tuesday on the drive to curb U.S.
activities in Cambodia.
The vote will be taken on a modification of the Cooper-Church
amendment, which would bar funds for "retaining" U.S. troops in
Cambodia. The modification, designed, to make the measure more
palatable to President Nixon, would allow the President to take action
necessary to protect U.S. forces in Vietnam.
The modified bill adds words explaining that the actions is "in
concert with the declared objectives of the President of the United
States in Cambodia after July 1, 1970O-which Nixon has said call for
taking any measure he feels necessary to protect U.S. troops.
Commenting on the modified proposal, Senate Minority Leader
Hugh Scott of Pennsylvania contended that the revised language
would still tie Nixon's hands.

VICE PRESIDENT AGNEW attacked campus dissenters again
last night, calling them a "small, hardcore of hell-raisers."
Speaking at a Republican fund-raising dinner in Houston, Agnew
said that campus protesters "want to overturn the system for the
sake of chaos alone."
"They burn, pillage and destroy because they rebel against their
lack of creativity," the vice president continued. Agnew also charged
that the demonstrators at campuses are encouraged by "an equally
small number of faculty members who apparently cannot compete
legitimately within the system or do not choose to do so."
Despite President Nixon's assurance that members of his ad-
ministration would refrain from attacking campus radicals, Agnew
has continued making such statements.
ARAB GUERRILLAS, striking from Lebanon, ambushed an
Israeli school bus yesterday and killed 10 persons, seven of them
children.
Twenty-two others were wounded in the attack, which came
when the guerrillas fired three bazooka shells at the bus at it traveled
along the border between Israel and Lebanon.
Claiming responsibility for the ambush, the Popular Front for
Liberation of Palestine-General Command said the attack was meant
to avenge the Israeli bombing of an Egyptian school on April 8.
