The choice of expressive statu-
ary and the use to which it is
put on the canvas. The simpli-
city of the color and the com-
vlexity of the texture, these and
the sense of the ancient past and
its decay that are present in
the paintings give them their
power. Included in the present
exhibition is one of these pieces
called 'Fallen Warrior' which
has a particularly complex piece
f statuary in it which gives it
a rather geographic composition.
Ramsey, on the other hand,
has been doing mixed-media
pieces rather in the vein of the
New York artist Larry Rivers,
but breaking occasionally away
from these tableaux to do at
least two pieces of interest re-
kently. The first, exhibited last
year, was a 'portrait' of the ar-
tist's truck, done by painting its
side with latex and hanging the
resultant 'life-inask' on the wall.
In this show, he has a piece
which consists of three bronzef
rock shapes which rock around
%(looking like turtles thumping
around in a box) on a metal
plate under a plexiglass box. The
motion has a fascinating futil-
ity. The rocks are stuck to their
pivo in the box but they per-
slat in trying to move.

pourri of a summer show. Both
the walls and floor are lined
with a large number of prints
(including a genuine Warhol
Campbell's Soup can). Despite
the title that has been given to
the show ('Focus 71') it is to
the contrary quite unfocused
4nd the best way to get around
in it is to ask the staff for some
guidance since they seem to
know what is where. The prints
on display, on the whole, are not
things that cannot be found
elsewhere but they might as well
