In the leaflet, Pedit claimed he was fired Mar. 16 because of his attempts to join AFSCME. Rehired four days later after apologizing to his superior, Pedit proceeded to meet with AFSCME workers in an attempt to realize his list of demands-including the unionization of the position of pressman's helper and a defini- tion of the position's duties with pay commensurate for those du- ties. Last night, law Prof. L. Hart Wright, chairman of the publica- tions board, commented on the Pedit case. "Immediately after the Uni- versity's determination of the employe's status, his supervisor -the superintendent of the printing shop - and I met for 21/2 hours with Mr. Pedit," Wright said. Invited as observ- ers were the Daily's editor and student business manager. "The variety of his concerns, and ours, were discussed in com- plete candor. No doubt his super- visor will be meeting with him again regarding matters over which that supervisor has com- plete jurisdiction," Wright con- tinued. "And certain policy ques- tions which spring from this case will be on the agenda of the next meeting of the publications board in September." "Prior to that meeting, appro- priate studies will be nade to enable the board, hopefully, to respond wisely to the policy im- plications," Wright added. However, Pedit said last night he was "badgered, intimidated and subjected to three hours of bullshit" at the meeting. "I guess I'm pretty naive," Pedit continued. "I had assumed that if The Daily were approach- ed with some rational argu- ments, that The Daily would re- act with logic rather than with emotion." "But it didn't, and that's why I've been checking with lawyers this week n sprepare a course of action," he said. and drugs lect every trace of evidence he can find.
