Hard drug plan begins

(Continued from Page 3)
In addition to plating drug
addicts in private homes, th e
program seeks to educate people
in-the streets about what street
drugs are composed of and how
they affect the user's mind and
body.
The street education program
will be conducted through in-
formation tables and announce-
ments at the Sunday rock con-
certs, a regular column in the
Ann A r b o r Sun, and several
streetworkers.
The streetworkers will be of-
fered subsistence pay from the
program, made possible by a re-
cent grant from the Department
of Health Education and Wel-
fare (HEW).

The committee also hopes
that HEW money can be used to
start a city community center
which eventually may include a
ballroom, a craftscenter and
provide a place for people to
meet and gather away from the
streets.
Committee spokesmen say ad-
ditional volunteers are needed
to help staff the programs and
more houses are required to ac-
cept the addicts in the program.
Concerts on
(Continued from Page 1)
The first concert will be held
at Gallup Park and three local
bands - the UP, Guardian An-
gel, and Pride - will be fea-
tured.
A drug education program will
be an integral part of the concert,
including "raps" from the stage
and leafleting concerning drug
problems in the city.
Though the concert will go on
persons willing to be Eangers are
needed and donations would be
greatly appreciated. For infor-
mation contact the Ozone House.
