of its committees, the Classified
Research Committee and the
Research Policies Committee, to
make a further study of the
controversial issue.
The report of the Classified
Research Committee is slated
to be presented to the Assem-

bly May 15, but Norman antici-
pates no recommendations for
action on the part of the Assem-
bly.
Rather, he says, the report
will "be mainly for getting the
views of the members of the
committee, -how they perceive
the guidelines and how effective
they think they are in terms of
their activities in view of the

classified research proposals" to
end or restrict research at the
University.
Norman calls the.study being
undertaken by the Research
Policies Committee "more inten-
sive" than the Classified Re-
search Committee's report, and
says the group is holding regular
meetings and will probably pre-
sent its report by the end of
June.
At the April 19 Senate As-
sembly meeting, four new
SACUA members were elected.
Elected to serve regular three-
year terms were: Law Prof. Ter-
rance Sandalow, Asst. Prof. of
library science Helen Lloyd and
economics Prof. Frederic Scher-
er. In addition, history Prof.
John Bowditch was elected to a
one year term, filling the va-
cancy left by Weinberg's r'esig-
nation.
