The five are held for refus- ing to testify before a federal grand jury investigating re- ported arms purchases in Dal- las and Fort Worth. They will be held until the grand jury disbands Nov. 2 or they decide to purge their contempt by agreeing to testify. This week, a three - judge panel'of the 5th U. S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the contempt sentences h a n d e d down by U. S. District Court Judge Leo Brewster. (A) - Authorities at the nation's youngest service acad- emy here are quietly making plans to accommodate coeds by 1975. Col. James Lannon, academy chief of staff, said, however, the coed ideas are "contingency plans," in the event 38 of the 50 states ratify the 26th amend- ment to the U.S. Constitution. That is the amendment giving ' equal rights to women. Lannon said it isn't known how many young women would be in the first class, but he said there is "talk about tking in two girls in each of the 40 squadrons - and perhaps a few more to allow for attrition." He said if the decision is made to take in two women per squadron - it is possible the " academy would have 320 coeds enrolled, or eight per squadron, by the time the first coeds are graduated in 1979.
