Come in any afternoon 420 Maynard By ELLIOT LEGOW Five seniors from last sea- son's 11-1, Big Ten champion Wolverine football team will be playing this Saturday night for the East squad in the annual Coaches' All-American game in Lubbock. Texas, No other school has produced as many players for either squad this year and the five Wolverine stars will be joined by their former coach Bo Schembechler. Head Coach for the east will be Paul "Bear" Bryant of Alabama and the Bear selected Schembechler as one of his assistants. The Wolverine players select- ed for the team were: tailback Bill Taylor, center Guy Mur- dock, linebacker Mike Taylor, flanker Glenn Doughty, and safety Torn Darden. All five are expected to start for the East. Taylor will be joined in the East backfield by Bryant's for- mer all-America Johnny Mus- MCAT-DAT-GRE LSAT-ATGSB NATL. Musso, who is headed to Canada for his pro career, and Taylor who will be playing for the Atlanta Falcons are expect- ed to be carrying the brunt of the East's offense. The quarterbacks for the East are a pair of unheralded southerners, Joe Gilliam of Tennessee State and Paul Mil- ler of North Carolina. Doughty, now of the Baltimore Colts, should be one of their prime targets. Murdock, now a robust 240 pounds compared to the 220 he carried while playing college ball will move on to the Hous- ton Oilers' training camp after the action is Lubbock. The Wolverines on defense and Schembechler, who is ex- pected to be defensive coach, will have to contend with the West's wishbone offense. Coach for the West will be Oklahoma's Chuck Fairbanks, a prime ad- vocate of the wishbone and the West's starting quarterback will be the Sooners' Jack Mildren. Darden, the number one draft choice of the Cleveland Browns and an all-America at safety may also get to practice his work at punt returns, and Mike Taylor, also all-America and a first round draft choice, of the New York Jets, will be anchor- ing the defense at middle line- backer. Saturday night's game will be broadcast on nationwide tele- vision but will certainly not be the first. or likely the last, t.v exposure for the Michigan stars. Three of them along with all- America Reggie McKenzie and Mike Keller will also be par- ticipating in the annual All- Star game July 28 in Chicago against the Super Bowl cham- pion Dallas Cowboys. In that game, too, Michigan will boast the largest contingent of its graduates on the 49 man col- lege team. Mike Taylor, Darden and Doughty will join McKenzie and Keller in Chicago for that game. Keller who excelled for Michigan at defensive end will probably be used at linebacker, the position the Cowboys se- lected him for when they chosi' him in the third round of last year's college draft. McKenzie, who joined Mike Taylor and Darden as concen- sus all - Americans last season was an early second .round draft choice of the Buffalo Bills and should be starting for the All-Stars at one of the guard positions.
