If this quotation doesn't offend you, stop right here. You'd pro- bably enjoy One Is a Lonely Number, and nothing I'm going to say about this insulting, de- meaning, obnoxious, insipid and idiotic movie will change your mind. One is at best, a 90-minute soap opera and at worst some of the most expensive film lead- er ever made by Hollywood. Produced by David Wolper, One is supposed to be the first in a projected series about the new 'liberated women." In reality it is anything but that. One is the standard melo- drama about a sweet, devoted housewife, Amy, whose husband suddenly leaves one day to live with another woman. Bravely, Amy tries to recon- struct ther life without h e r husband - but the period of re- adjustment proves to be more- painful for the audience than for the pitiful neophyte divor- cee. During her ordeal she is be- friended by a father figure fruit and vegetable man, seduced by a big-hearted married man, and counseled by the president of the local divorcee club who advises Amy that she "can put ham- burger on the table but you've got to put filet mignon in bed." Sounds naughty doesn't it? Nevertheless One has been giv- en the ubiquitous PG rating - which means in this case that anyone who sits through t h e whole thing needs Professional Guidance. By PAUL TRAVIS Arts Editor The cost of enjoying top- name rock talent seems to be rising in Ann Arbor. Witness the Rod Stewart and the Faces and Badfinger con- cert scheduled for Crisler Are- na on July 5 by the University Activities Center (UAC) and Daystar productions. UAC-Daystar plans on selling all 14,000 seats in the arena, including those behind the stage. All the tickets will be five dollar reserved seats sold on a first 'come first served basis starting tomorrow. The reason for the high cost of all the tickets has not been explained. One source within UAC charges, "It is because Sob Bageris is taking a huge cut of all the money. He's taking over 50 per cent. Bageris, a Detroit concert promoter, has an "op- tion" on almost all big name talent coming into the lower Michigan-Detroit area. Bageris, when contacted yes- terday, admitted he was getting a cut but refused to say how much. "Of course I'm getting a cut, I'm supplying the talent," he said. Members of-Daystar have been out of town and those here are unable to explain why even the seats behind the stage are being sold at the same five dol- lar price being charged for the rest of the arena. Last fall, UAC-Daystar moved its series of concerts out of Crisler and into Hill Aud. for the bettrsacoustics and lower rental rates. In last year's series the most expensive tickets were $4.50. The only recent concert at the arena where all 14,000 seats were put up for sale was last year's Joan Baez concert. But at that concert regular ticket pric- es were two dollars and obstruc- tive view seats went for a buck. According toBageris, "Those seats with an obstructive view will be marked. The tickets will be sold on a first come first serve basis and people will know where their seats are when they buy them."
