Page Twelve THE MICHIGAN DAILY Tuesday, June 6, 1972 CONSUMER NEWSr Whither Great Scott? This is the second in the summer series of consumer surveys listing grocery prices around the city, for the week that ended June 3. The survey indicates prices only. Shopping at the 'winning store" does not guarantee quality or that you will find exactly what you want. A group of University students with the aid of the Public Interest Research Group in Michigan surveyed 14 stores, com- paring prices on 98 items appearing on a typical shopping list under the categories meats, staples, dairy, produce, 'other' and non-foods. The store are ranked weekly according to cost for all products priced, with last week's position in parenthesis. &Eery Tuesday a is e r d i c t p r o o k e s F_- a reaction to U.S. courts For Couples BILLIARDS (Continued from Page 3) against her in August, 1970, Relaxing at her San Jose Davis was reported missing. Friends said they were urging Davis to attend. law school and through work in the courts, carry out her avowed efforts "to free all political prisoners." D e.f e n s e attorney Howard Moore Jr., who tutored her in law during her months as a prisoner, said during the trial, "I think she's the best lawyer in the courtroom." The prosecution's theory dur- ing the trial was that Davis, madly in love with convict- author George Jackson, con- spired with his younger brother Jonathan, 17, to free Jackson from San Quentin Prison. Davis called the state's effort to prove a love motive "a symp- tom of the male chauvinism which prevails in this society." Before being sought for the trial charges, Davis had fought in the courts to regain her teaching job at UCLA. She was fired for being a Communist. When charges were filed TV the, pusher, Johnson says WASHINGTON (1P) - Federal Communications Commissioner Nicholas Johnson assailed drug commercials yesterday and said "television is the pusher." "Every indicator of drug use -from cigarette sales to aspirin sales, from the use of alcohol to the use of vitamins, from sleeping pills to stay-awake pills-is increasing annually," Johnson said. "And television is intimately involved in selling these drugs." Johnson said the current anti-drug spots featuring pro- fessional athletes "may very be ... encouraging drug use by calling the attention of young people to a glamorized, illegal alternative to the alcohol guz- zled by the adult world."
