The mass circulation Al Ak- habar blamed Israel for the in- cident, saying: "Israeli leaders should understand they are re- sponsible for whatever actions the commandos take because they feel under the illusion that they are able to achievesecurity through sheerforce of arms." The massacre Tuesday was the second outbreak of violence at Lod airport in less than a month. Four Arab terrorists hijacked a Belgian Sabena jetliner to Tel Aviv after it took off from Rome May 8. Passengers and crew were held captive for a day before Israeli commandos stormed the aircraft, killed two of the hijackers, captured two accomplices and freed the hos- tages. One passenger later died of injuries suffered in the shooting. The Popular Front claimed that Tuesday's attack was to avenge the death of the two hijackers. Israeli security agents foiled an attempt by Arab guerrillas to sabotage an Israeli El Al air- lines in Copenhagen, a company official disclosed yesterday. The official said two Arabs tried to damage the El Al plane by placing explosives aboard. El Al flies weekly flight from Copenhagen to Israel every Thursday. An Air France jumbo jet bound from Paris for Tel Aviv with 100 passenger aboard turned back to Orley Airport yesterday after an anonymous telephone caller told the air- port switchboard a bomb had been placed on a Tel Aviv flight. The passengers left the Boe- ing 747 and police searched it and other Air France and El Al planes scheduled to depart later in the afternoon for Israel. Police here have been unable to locate the source of the Ann Arbor street supply. "Right now we're concentrat- ing on finding the distribution' points because from all indica- tion there seems to be a lot of them on the streets," says Sgt. Calvin Hicks of the Ann Arbor Police Dept. "At the moment it is unclear where they are coming from." The drug, because it is not a barbituate, is not governed by the Federal Controlled Substance Act and is thus not considered illegal. However, federal legis- lation covering methaqualone use is expected by mid-summer, according to Hicks. The Michigan Daily, edited and man- aged by students at the University of Michigan.
