A hospital medical bulletin said yesterday that Wallace's general condition has shown marked im- provement and he is eating more solid foods now. There are reports that Wallace will be transferred soon to a Birmingham hospital where a second operation will bheper- formed to remove a bullet from his spine. McGovern won 50 per cent of the vote in his expected victory in Oregon. With 11 names on the ballot, George Wallace came in second with 20 per cent and Sen. Hubert H u m p h r e y (D-Minn.) placed third with 13 per cent of the vote. Sen. Edward Kennedy (D- Mass.), who tried to have his name removed from the ballot, received three per cent. In Rhode Island's primary, with a light turnout of voters, McGovern chalked up another victory with 41 per cent. Hum- phrey again came in third, with a small 20 per cent of the vote. Sen. Edmund Muskie (D-Me.), who has withdrawn from the pri- mary race, edged out Humphrey with 21 per cent. Wallace got 15 per cent. Campaigning continued yester- day for the crucial California primary.
