It was the firstnNew York ap- pearance in a visiting uniform for Houk, who spent 35 years in the Yankee organization, 11 as manager. Lolich, Detroit's longtime ace, entered the game with a 1-5 record and 4.85 earned run av- erage. The 33-year-old left- hander held the Yankees hitless for 323 innings but fell behind 1-0 when Lou Piniella singled, Jim Ray Hart walked and Graig Nettles singled. The Tigers then jumped on Pat Dobson, 2-6, for three runs in the fifth to wrap it up for Lolich. Singles. by Aurelio Rod- riguez, Eddie Brinkman and Mickey Stanley tied the score.
