Willie Stargell is the batter. -- ------------------ LOLICH WINS, 5-1 LeFlore HR boosts By The Associated Press CINCINNATI - T w o- r u n homers by hot-hitting Willie Stargell and Ed Kirkpatrick carried the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 7-4 victory over the Cin- cinnati Reds in a nationally televised game last night. There were no incidents to spark a replay of the bench- emptying brawl which marred the last meeting between the two clubs July 14. Stargell's 20th homer of the season gave the Pirates a 3-0 lead in the third and Kirk- N.L. Flag Chases patrick's blast gave starting pitcher Jerry Reuss, 12-9, a 5-0 cushion after four innings. Stargell, who is hitting over .400 during his last 19 games, later turned in a crucial de- fensive play, making a running catch on a long drive by pinch hitter Dan Driessen in the sixth inning and crashing hard into the left-field wall. Zisk drilled a seventh inning Tigers er in- baseball, stole his 78th and 79th of the season for the Cardinals. Phils prance PHILADELPHIA - Hot-hit- ting Willie Montanez ripped a first-inning two-run d o u b 1 e, then doubled in the eighth to trigger a two-run rally to help the Philadelphia Phillies beat the San Francisco Giants 4-1 and snap a three-game losing streak last night. With one out in the first, Larry Bowa beat out an infield single and Mike Schmidt dou- bled to right, setting up Monta- nez's two-run double to right center. The double extended Mon- tanes's hitting streak through eight games. The first base- man now has hit in 32 of his last 33 games. He was stop- ped in St. Louis a week ago with a 24-game string. Montanez also doubled in the eighth, coming home on a dou- ble by Mike Anderson. Ollie Brown then singled home An- derson. Brewers Win ARLINGTON, Tex. - George Scott's two-run single and Dar- rell Porter's two-run double helped the Milwaukee Brewers to a 5-1 victory over the Texas Rangers last night. By The Associated Press DETROIT - R o o k i e Ron Leflore's two - run homer keyed a three-run third inning against Nelson Briles and sparked the Detroit Tigers to a 5-1 victory last night over tle Kansas City Royals. Mickey Lolich, 13-14, scat- tered five hits for Detroit as the Tigers snapped Kansas City's winning streak at three games. It was only the second loss in the last 10 games for the Royals. For Detroit, the victory snapped a three-game losing string. Aurelio Rodriguez opened the Tiger third with a single and scored on a double by Gene Le- mont. Then Leflore, called up from the minors two weeks ago, hit the first home run of his major league career. Detroit scored two more runs in the fourth. Singles by Ben Oglivie, Jim Nettles and Rodri- guez produced the first run and a grounder by Ed Brinkman brought home the second, The Royals scored their run in the fourth on a double by Or- lando Cepeda after Cookie Ro- jas and Hal McRae had singled. Cards outlast ST. LOUIS - Bake McBride drove home the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the 13th inning to give the St. Louis Cardinals a 6-5 victory over the San Diego Padres last night. Danny Godby singled to lead off the Cardinal rally and was sacrificed to second base. Lou Brock beat out an infield hit, sending Godby to third. Ted Sizemore was intention- ally walked to load the bases, setting the stage for McBride's RBI fly ball. The Padres tied the score at S-S on Clarence Gaston's sacri- fice fly in the eighth inning. Derrel Thomas' double and Dave Winfield's single drove in runs in the first inning to give San Diego a 2-0 lead against St. Louis starter John Curtis. Hitless for three innings, the Cardinals scored five runs in the fourth inning, helped by two San Diego errors.
