tate accepts budget
(Continued from Page 2)
THE UNIVERSITY had re-
quested an increase of $23.4
million, which included a 9.7
per cent salary increase, a five
per cent inflationary increase
on non-salary items and a .7
per cent staff benefits increase.
However, University officials
admit the requests were maisly
for "bargaining purposes only"
and that they never expected to
receive them.
Fauri admitted he was "of
course glad to note that the
Senate had concurred v i-h the
House's higher figure" on the
budget.
PRESIDENT Robber Flem-
ing is expected to aunt ncee the
University's appropriations of
the budget, sometime before
the July 26 Regents gaeeting.
The Regents will approve the
proposed allocations : at that
time. An announcement of any
rise in tuition would also take
place then..

funds for proposed law schools
at either Michigan State Uni-

University as had been hotly
debated in the legislatute.
The measure also granted the
University of Michigan Dear-
born Campus a'$5.9 million bud-
get and the University's Flint
campus a total of $5.1 million.
In addition, the bill appro-
priated $6.9 million for the Uni-
versity's psychiatric hospitals,
an increase of $.5 million and
gave the Mental Health Re-
search Institute $1.7 million, a
S.1 million increase.
