Prince Fahd, Saudi Ara- bia's interior minister and second deputy prime minister, met with Nixon for 40 minutes and then had lunch with him. The United States and Saudi Arabia have said they want to expand cooperation in the economic, indus- trial, scientific and technological fields. PHILADELPHIA - Mrs. Jack Friedland, wife of the president of Food Fair stores, was abducted from her home on suburban Phila- delphia's exclusive Main Line and freed about four hours later, police said. Authorities said they had arrested one of her abductors. Police said Mrs. Friedland was found in Philadel- phia. They refused to divulge other details. "Whatever money was involved has been re- covered," said Police Capt. Patrick Joyce. Friedland was kidnaped from the $200,000 home on a five-acre estate yesterday by three gunmen. Police said a ransom demand had been made, but it was not immediately known how much or under what circumstances. WASHINGTON - Interior Secretary Rogers to avoid it. "If we don't do this between now and the turn of the century, civilization will be faced with virtually rebuilding itself,"' Morton said at a group interview. WASHINGTON - The House Post Office and. Civil Service Committee approved legislation aimed at curbing and realigning presidential staffs and eliminating the President's dicre- tionary $1 million emergency fund. The leg- islation also sets specific levels for vice presi- dential staffs and would require that the White House inform Congress of the names and du- ties of staff members borrowed from various departments in the administration.
