At the same time, Thailand announced the United States will remove more warplanes from the country. The Thai government has been dominated by the military for the past 42 years, but in Sanya's new cabinet, even the defense ministry went to a civilian. Sanya resigned May 22 but agreed five days later to form a new govern- ment. The Thai military said the U.S. will withdraw 60 warplanes from Thailand in June. 0 National NEW YORK-The end of price controls on April 30 meant the beginning of another round of increases in the family grocery bill, an Associated Press marketbasket survey showed. The marketbasket bill, which declined slightly for two months, went up in most places during May, putting the total 15 per cent above the figure for March 1, 1973. LOS ANGELES-Author Adelle Davis, health food advocate and crusader for better nutri- tion, died yesterday of cancer, her agent said. She was 70. Davis was the author of four best- selling books praising the value of natural health foods and criticizing the typical diet of Americans. In her best known book, "Let's Eat Right to Keep Fit," she criticized the diet of the average American. Davis described it as excessively high in salt, loaded with re- fined sugar and contaminated by pesticides, growth hormones and preservatives. a Local A proposal initiated by Washtenaw County Sheriff Fred Postill suffered a setback yes- terday when Circuit Court Judge Patrick Con- lin issued a preliminary injunction prohibit- ing the county from operating a halfway house for jail inmates. Conlin's order forbade the county to open the center in a residential Ypsilanti neighborhood until an occupancy per- mit is obtained or until the county shows that it is immune from local zoning ordinances. He ruled the county was in violation of zon- ing requirements in frying to locate the center in a residentially zoned area.
