Gen. William Saxbe said only he can fire special Watergate prosecutor Leon Ja- worski and "I have no intention to do so." Saxbe made the comment when questioned by reporters about the latest con- flict between Jaworksi and the White House over access to presidential files. Jaworski complained this week that the White House was challenging his authority to take President Nixon to court to enforce sub- poenas. * Vice President Gerald Ford told a Republican rally in Wilm- ington, Del., that he hopes President Nixon will give the House Judiciary Committee relevant material and "the sooner the better." * The Los Angeles Times re- ported that the head of the ITT investigation in the special pro- secutor's office intends to re- sign in protest over the agree- ment which allowed former Atty. Gen. Richard Kleindienst to plead guilty to a minor charge stemming from his tes- timony to a Senate committee about the ITT antitrust settle- ment. The prosecutor's office declined to comment on the re- port. *Convicted Watergate con- spirator James McCord said in a just-released book he be- lieves President - Nixon knew in advance of the Watergate break-in and knew of the cover- up long before March 21, 1973 the date Nixon says he learn- ed of it. IN A LETTER to Rodino on Wednesday, the President said he made the transcripts public "so that the record of my knowledge and actions in the Watergate matter would be fully disclosed, once and for all. Rodino said some of the areas in the transcripts that give him concern are misstatements, omissions of words or para- graphs, statements attributed to the wrong people, the numer- ous passages marked inaudible, the material deleted as not rele- vant and the use of paraphras- ing. Mildshil*pm MAf en accused of, ceating- ANNAPOLIS, Md. /P)-About 900 -Midshipmen will have to take a second final examination in a navigations course because the first exam was "compro- .mised," U.S. Naval Academy officials said yesterday. The academy statement said the investigation was initiated after a Midshipman told offi- cials there had been tampering with the exam. The spokesman refused to elaborate. "THE SOURCE of the com- promise is being investigated," the academy said. Spokesmen would not say if there was any organized cheating on the part of Midshipmen.
